What's included in the Essentials Plus home set-up?

Aloe Care Essentials Plus includes: Aloe Care’s proprietary Smart Hub with voice-activated access to 24/7 professional emergency response and built-in motion, temperature and air quality sensors; a secure family app to improve communication and care collaboration; a Mobile Companion 2 device featuring wearable fall detection and nationwide AT&T LTE coverage; and a wearable Care Button to get help both inside and outside the home (up to 200ft. range).

‍Essentials Plus features contactless set-up to align with COVID-19 safety protocols. It’s ideally suited for older adults who wish to live independently but would benefit from added safety measures and improved communication with their care teams. It is also ideal for remote caregivers who want to ensure elders’ safety, and need an improved way to communicate and collaborate with other caregivers.

Do I need the Aloe Care mobile app to set up the Essentials Plus bundle?

You do not need an app to set up your Smart Hub or your Mobile Companion 2 devices. If you are an older adult setting up the system for yourself, you can plug in the device, and follow the on-device voice instructions to set up your system in a few minutes.

If you are setting up your Smart Hub without an app:

Plug in your Smart Hub to an outlet NOT controlled by a light switch.
Listen to the voice prompts.
When prompted, press the central, Aloe Care Assistance button.
You are online!

If you are setting up your Mobile Companion without an app:

Make sure your Smart Hub is set up first.
Afterwards, unbox your Mobile Companion 2, assemble the charger, cable and plug.
Turn your device on by inserting it in the charger before pressing button 1 to turn on.
Follow the voice prompts to finish setup your device.

If you are a caregiver with the app, open the app after plugging in the Smart Hub and follow the in-app instructions.

What is the Smart Hub?

The Smart Hub is a secure smart speaker which helps connect older adults to everyone they choose to include in their circle of care. It also connects them to a professional emergency response team should the need arise. Contact can be initiated by voice or the press of a button. The Smart Hub also detects air quality (VOC/CO2) and temperature anomalies, as well as notable changes in movement patterns.

The Aloe Care Smart Hub can help older adults connect — and talk to — the people in your designated circle of care. You can push either the Primary Caregiver or All Caregivers button on the Smart Hub and they will be notified to contact you. Alternatively, if you initiate an Emergency response (by repeating “Emergency”) and then realize you don’t need medical attention, the system will offer to reach out to your family. If you accept (by saying “Call My Family”) the Smart Hub will automatically send notice to everyone, asking them to check-in with you. When they do check-in, you will hear their voices come through the Aloe Care Smart Hub — no need to rush to a phone, just talk!

People in your care circle can also reach you through the Smart Hub. They touch the check-in button on the app, select the device and your Smart Hub will ring. You can answer their call using just your voice. Whether you need someone to stop by and lend a hand or if you just want to chat, it’s a great way to connect.

How do I request help on the Smart Hub in the event of an emergency?

In the event of an older adult requiring assistance from a professional personal emergency response agent — the 2-way call with an agent through the Smart Hub can be established by the older adult in two ways:

Press the black, Aloe Care Assistance button in the center of the Smart Hub. This will establish a connection with a professional agent, unless the Cancel button — the gray button marked by the X symbol — is pressed. You will know you are being transferred to an agent when you hear: “Connecting you to the Aloe Care Response team. Please wait.”
Say the word “Emergency” repeatedly until you hear the prompt, “We think you asked for help, Do you need assistance.” When the reply to that prompt is “Yes” or “Emergency” said again, you will be connected to the response team — a live emergency response professional (Similarly, by saying “No” the call will disconnect.). You will know you are being transferred to an agent when you hear “Connecting you to the Aloe Care Response team. Please wait.”

What is the Aloe Care Health mobile app?

The secure Aloe Care Health App is designed for the Caregiving team, both non-professional (family, friends, etc.) and professional, as a central platform to keep everyone connected and to care and support an older adult.Your Care Circle allows you to add as many people as you would like to the app. For optimal use, we typically recommend five people per Care Circle.

The app is available from the App Store and Google Play.

What is the Mobile Companion 2?

The Mobile Companion 2, with automatic fall detection*, is a small, wearable and pocket-friendly device that uses GPS technology to help independent adults stay safe and connected, whether at home or on-the-go.

Network: AT&T network coverage, where available.

‍Location Detection: Offers peace-of-mind to caregivers and help will arrive right where needed in an emergency.

‍Voice Feedback: Clear, pre-recorded voice prompts make interactions easy.
